Dear Fellow Van Horn Falcon,
Greetings, and warm wishes for a successful 2012!
We're now well past the halfway point of Year Four of Van Horn's new era as part of the Independence School District, and the successes keep happening at the Home of the Falcons!
Last fall saw the Grand Re-opening of a refurbished Little Theatre (thanks to the generosity of Matt and Kathy (Lusso) Mallison, both VH '76), the induction of the first nine members of the Van Horn Hall of Honor, and a winning football team -- with a 7-4 record, the Falcons earned only their second Missouri state playoff berth in school history! Also, our two 2011 Alumni Association scholarship recipients, Aysha Bashir and Lauren Dresch, successfully completed their first semesters at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Missouri State University, respectively.
Looking ahead, your Association will soon be accepting applications from Van Horn seniors wishing to compete for our 2012 scholarship, and we have already received nominations for the 2012 Van Horn Hall of Honor inductees. WE encourage you to nominate fellow Falcon alums whose distinguished work merits induction into the Hall; for your nomination to be considered, however, you (that's the nominator, not the nominatee) need to be an Association Member. Applications to join the Association, as well as to nominate Hall of Honor recipients, may be downloaded and printed from this website.
To our more than 100 Members, thank you for your confidence in, and support of, your Association. If you haven't yet joined, let 2012 be the year for you to become a part of the growing "Falcon Alumni Nation!"

be shared. We are all keenly interested in filling-in-the-gaps from all of those years we were
out of contact. If you are a writer (or simply a wannabe), this can be your platform. Write
with a Byline; or
nom de plume if you prefer. There are few limitations other than
reasonably "good taste" and spell-checker. Since the web site is specifically designed to
accommodate multi-media, we can utilize your photos and videos. If you have a video
camera/microphone and would like to try your hand at "on-air" interviews, storytelling,
or Van Horn related "news", record yourself and send it to us.
